195 mm Diopside and Grossular in Calcite

$ 129.99

ID20432

Location:

Bumannsfjorden, Seiland, Finnmark, Norway

Size: 160x195x90 mm (4249 gram)

Description

This is not for the normal collector, but rather for museums or for collectors looking for something special. The special with this piece is the size of the Diopside crystals, which are huge.

As you will see they are partly weathered, but they are up to 6 cm long. That is by far the biggest  Diopside crystals I have for sale (and I only have one specimen in my private collection with a bigger crystal).

In addition you will see a lot of brown tiny crystals. If you look with a magnifying glass, you will see that this is actually tiny, nice and translucent  Grossular crystals.

Because they are partly weathered I have reduced the price by much, but be aware that shipping cost will cost quite a bit because of its size.

Bumannsfjorden, Seiland, Finnmark, Norway

Most of the year the field where the minerals are found is covered with ice and snow, and today this area is now a part of the Seiland National Park, and collecting from this area is now strictly forbidden. So not only is this a rare material but also it will not be collected more of it.

This specimen was found in the late 1980's by my father, Gunnar Mathisen.
