Diopside from Bumansfjorden, Seiland, Finnmark, Norway
Size: 46x22x13 mm (20,8 gr.)
Very big Diopside crystal. It is green translucent and has a nice luster. Both the top and bottom are damaged, and the backside is missing/damaged. However it got two nice and clean facets and look good on display.
This specimen was found in the late 1980's by my father, Gunnar Mathisen.
Most of the year the field where the minerals are found is covered with ice and snow, and today this area is now a part of the Seiland National Park, and collecting from this area is now strictly forbidden.
