Diopside & Grossular on Calcite
Location: Bumansfjorden, Seiland, Finnmark, Norway
Size: 133x125x102 mm (2460 gr.)
Huge specimen with a lot of Diopside crystals with great quality. It is mostly undamaged, you will only find tiny damages.
The bigges crystal is 37 mm and undamaged.
The specimen also contain many small translucent cola brown Grossular crystals, which is a nice contrast to the milky white calcite.

This specimen was found in the late 1980's by my father, Gunnar Mathisen.
Most of the year the field where the minerals are found is covered with ice and snow, and today this area is now a part of the Seiland National Park, and collecting from this area is now strictly forbidden.
