Diopside and Grossular from Bumansfjorden, Seiland, Finnmark, Norway
Size: 65x131x90 mm (1352 gr.)
Massive piece of green translucent diopside and tiny cola brown grossular. The whole specimen is diopside and grossular, except two small pieces of white calcite at the top, and some at the backside. Very much of the crystals are weathered and damaged.
There are some few big and nice diopside crystals at the top, but also those ones got some damages. However a cool piece since it is massive diopside and grossular.
This specimen was found in the late 1980's by my father, Gunnar Mathisen.
Most of the year the field where the minerals are found is covered with ice and snow, and today this area is now a part of the Seiland National Park, and collecting from this area is now strictly forbidden.
