The specimen was found in the classic location in the mountains of Bumansfjord, Seiland, Finnmark, Norway. It has a weight of 477 grams, and measures 66 x 118 x 45 mm (height x length x width)
Translucent green Diopside crystals on snow white calcite. The diopsides at the top are mostly damage free, while the diopsides at the bottom are damaged. You will also find a few cola-brown translucent Grossular crystals at the bottom.
Most of the year the field where the minerals are found is covered with ice and snow, and today this area is now a part of the Seiland National Park, and collecting from this area is now strictly forbidden.
This specimen was found in the late 1980's by my father, Gunnar Mathisen.
